Happy New Year’s Eve! We have no exciting celebration plans tonight. My husband and I will be eating pizza, drinking wine, and sitting in our PJ’s in front of the TV. We most likely won’t stay up until midnight. If COVID wasn’t still a thing, we might have gotten together with friends, but COVID is still a thing, so…..
But I do have something exciting to share with you! We adopted a puppy!! You may recall that our first attempt to adopt a new family member didn’t work out, but last weekend I came across Luna’s picture on the rescue website. David and I hadn’t planned on getting a puppy; we wanted a younger adult dog that was already potty trained and past the chewing stage, but the more we thought about it, the more we thought a puppy would be a better fit for Kali, our other dog. We contacted the rescue group and on Sunday morning, someone brought Luna over to our house so that she could meet us and Kali.
Luna is an 11-week-old Golden Retriever mix. She was the only remaining puppy left from her family who hadn’t been adopted yet. Guys, she’s SO LITTLE. And fricking cute! She and Kali immediately hit it off and it was obvious from the beginning that Kali would be in the big sister role. Luna follows Kali everywhere and anytime Kali lays down, Luna climbs on top of her to sleep. They also play really well together. Kali is very patient and shares her toys and allows Luna to climb all over her.
Luna was very shy and timid when she first moved in with us; in fact, she is still quite shy around David. But I think that will get better as time goes on. She loves to snuggle with me and as soon as I sit down on the couch, she immediately wants up with me. She is doing really well with her potty training and has only cried in her kennel at night once. She is going to be such a wonderful addition to our family and I can’t wait for the summer days when we can all hang out in the backyard as a family.
Here are just a few of the 100s of photos I feel like I’ve already taken in the 5 days she has been with us:
Last day of 2020, guys! Have you been thinking about new goals for 2021? I’ve been thinking a lot about all of the crazy things that happened this year and how many of the goals that I set at the beginning of 2020 were met, despite all of the obstacles that came our way. But that’s another post for another day.
For now, I need more puppy snuggles. Happy New Year!
May your glass always be full,
