A love list 5-24-20

Hello, hello!  It’s been a while since I’ve posted.  Not much has changed; still been practicing the social distancing and only going on essential errands.  I will be going back into work a couple of days next week.  I have a face shield and mask that I’ll be required to wear.  It will be good to get back and see my colleagues, but I’ve really enjoyed working from home and will really miss it once we go back into work full time.

I wanted to put together a list of things that I’ve really enjoyed recently and wanted to share.  I’ve been trying to spend my time doing things that bring me joy and instill more positivity.  This includes continuing to limit my time watching the news and scrolling past things in my social media news feed that start to make me feel angry or sad.  It’s still a work in progress, but I’ve noticed a big change in my level of anxiety.  I spend less time stewing over things that I have no control over.

Besides loving less news in my life, here are some other things I’m loving right now:

  1.  Barre Blend – I just finished week 3 of 8 of this Beachbody program and I love it so much!  It’s low impact, but I still get out of breath and am a sweaty mess after the end of each workout.  This is the first workout where I chose to lead an online group and it has been so much fun!  I love, love, LOVE watching this group of ladies go through the program and let me tell you, they are seeing results already!  It’s so exciting! Barre Blend
  2.  During this pandemic, I chose to use a lot of my free time focusing on personal development.  I’ve read some really great, inspiring, and extremely helpful books.  I was lucky enough to be chosen to be part of a pre-launch group that got to read the book, Ask For More: 10 Questions to Negotiate Anything by Alexandra Carter and it was an amazing experience.  The book isn’t simply about asking for more money; it’s about negotiating anything in your life, either in personal relationships or in your career.  The author teaches you what questions to ask to figure out what you want and what you want the ultimate end-goal to be and how to get there by asking the right questions. Ask for More
  3.  Along the personal development lines, I love listening to podcasts and one of my new favorites is “Let’s Do Life with Autumn Calabrese.”  Autumn Calabrese is one of my favorite Beachbody trainers and her podcast not only talks about health and fitness, but also mental health, financial health, etc.  Her podcasts have been extremely motivational and inspirational.  I highly recommend giving them a listen!
  4.  If you know me well enough, you know that one of my favorite things to do is visit my favorite wineries.  I love to hang out with David and my family drinking wine, eating snacks, and enjoying live music.  Since the wineries aren’t open (or if they are, there are restrictions), David and I decided to have our own winery experience last weekend in the backyard.  We drank wine, had music playing, and made a tray of snacks to enjoy.  It was so nice that we decided that it was just as good as going to an actual winery (except the kids weren’t there with us), and it was a lot cheaper!  I see us spending a lot more time at the Smith Winery this summer!
  5.  Netflix binge-worthy shows that I’m currently watching are Community and Sweet Magnolias.  I was late to the Community series party, just as I was with Parks and Recreation.  Parks and Rec is now one of my all-time favorite shows, and I think that Community will be as well.  Sweet Magnolias is a Netflix original series that is a feel-good drama based in a small Southern community centered around three best friends.  I’ve been glued to it all weekend and would recommend it for anyone needing a bit of Southern charm!

That’s my love list for this week.  This next week is going to bring some new changes, but as long as I keep my familiar routines, such as my morning workouts and healthy meals, continue to use my daily planner for both short-term and long-term goals, and stay positive, it will be okay and I’ll adapt.

How about you?  What would be on the top of your love list this week?

May your glass always be full,

  1. Oooo, thanks for the Netflix ideas. I get to choose next. Ron’s choice this time was West World and I have been struggling. It has not been my favorite.
