I did myself a HUGE favor

I did myself a favor this week, and it was such a gift I gave myself – I majorly cut back on the news.  I watched enough news in the morning to hear the headlines and the weather and THAT. WAS. IT. for the day.  I cleaned up my Facebook feed so that I wouldn’t see as many COVID-19- or politically-related posts.  If I saw one of those posts, I just kept scrolling.  No likes.  No comments.  Just. kept. scrolling.

It’s been such a breath of fresh air.  I have felt less anxious, fearful and pissed off and it’s helped me focus on the things that I have control over and to let go of the things I have no control over.  I was worried I’d suffer from FOMO, but nope.  Not feeling like I’m missing out on anything.  So I’ll probably do this for the rest of my life.

In other news (see what I did there, ha ha) I survived my first week of Barre Blend and I’m really enjoying this program!  It was challenging, it kicked my butt, and I can’t wait to see my progress at the end of the 8-week program!

Here were the workouts this week:

Day 1:  Classic Full Body Blend

Day 2:  Booty Blend

Day 3:  Cardio Blend

Day 4: Core Blend

Day 5:  Lean Legs Blend

My arms, legs, and core are so sore!  Although all of the exercises are low impact, I’m still sweating and working hard.  After completing programs that require heavier lifting, I was worried about losing my strength while doing Barre Blend, but no worries there!  I can barely get through the arm exercises with 1-pound weights!  No joke!

I’m learning a lot of ballet moves and having so much fun.  It took me a few days to get into the flow of the program, but now that I’m getting used to a lot of the movements, I’m really enjoying it.

I’m doing this program with a group of women and it’s been so much fun having them along for this journey.  Having a group to be accountable to has also helped me stay on track with my nutrition.  Here are some of the healthy meals I had this week:

Roasted sweet potato slices brushed with a bit of olive oil with cinnamon and Five-Spice seasoning
Tofu scramble with avocado and tabasco green pepper sauce



Vegan Chocolate Shakeology with peanut butter, hemp seeds, banana and unsweetened almond milk

Tomorrow I will get a few miles on the treadmill, probably just walking.  On Sunday I will take a rest day (happy Mother’s Day to me!)
