Week 2 of LIIFT4

Hey there, happy Monday!  Last week was week 2 of the LIIFT4 workout program and it was a challenging one because midway through the week, I had a colonoscopy.  Ugh.

On Monday, it was triceps/chest day.  I was also on a restricted diet in preparation for my upcoming colonoscopy, which meant no salads, fruits, vegetables, nuts, or seeds.  Basically, everything that I normally eat.  GAAAAAHHH  I lived on eggs, tofu, bananas, applesauce, white potatoes, and white rice for 3 days.  Good times.  But I still managed to stay on schedule with the workout program.  On Tuesday, the day before my colonoscopy, my workout day was biceps and back exercises.  I was allowed to eat until 2:00 p.m. and then I had to go on clear liquids for the rest of the day.

At 6:00 p.m. I had to start my colonoscopy prep drink.  For those of you who have had a colonoscopy before, you know how terrible this is.  For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, you have to drink a gallon of “lemon” flavored drink.  I use the term “lemon” loosely because basically the shit tastes like Alka-Seltzer.  You have to drink 8 ounces of it every 10-15 minutes until you’ve consumed half of the gallon.  And then you wait for the fun to begin.

My fun didn’t begin until 4:30 the next morning.  Apparently that’s common, but I had to Google it to be sure because I was worried when nothing seemed to be happening.  Then in the morning of the colonoscopy,  it’s round 2 of the prep drink.  Yum.  But no worries, by the time I had to leave for my appointment at noon, I was cleaned out!  I was also starving.  So hungry.  And hangry.


Colonoscopy day just happened to be a scheduled recovery day in the workout program, so that was perfect timing.  That was the only thing perfect about the day.  Colonoscopies are not fun.  What can you do, though?  They have to be done and I’m actually glad that I hadn’t put it off any longer because I had two polyps removed that had to be biopsied.  I’m still waiting to hear about the pathology results.  The doctor said that he’ll probably have me come back in 6-12 months for a repeat colonoscopy.  Yay.  Can’t wait.

On Thursday, I was still feeling the effects of the colonoscopy, so I rested for another day and did my third LIIFT4 workout of the week on Friday, which was shoulder exercises.  I then did the leg workout on Saturday.

The nutritional program was a hot mess.  Between the restricted diet, fasting, and colonoscopy recovery, it was hard to stay true to the eating program.  I just did the best I could.  And then this weekend, I indulged way too much.  However, I’m back on track today.

It was a challenging week, but I survived and I’m back to my normal routine this week.  My goal this week is to increase the weights I’m using.

If you could do me a favor and send some positive vibes for good results on my biopsies, I’d really appreciate it.  I’m not really too worried, but I could still use the good thoughts!

  1. I hope those polyps come back benign! I haven’t had one yet, but then I haven’t been to a dr in a really long time (aside from the hospital visit). I do have one scheduled for later in the year (dr visit, that is).

    OTOH, that’s the diet I’ve been doing for a week now. Yes, I’m definitely getting bored with it. Slowly adding back in some veggies via smoothies & so far so good knock on wood.

  2. Sending positive vibes your way. What a crappy week (no pun intended). I am glad to hear your getting back in the groove. That LIIFT program sounds like a winner. I have been doing more resistance training but it’s on my Total Gym. I like the toning it has done. I am not ready to do anything too extreme. I have continued running as it just makes me feel good. Looking forward to more updates with this program & the tests results (only if you want to share)

  3. I had my first colonoscopy last year and they found 2 polyps as well. Mine were fine and I’m praying yours will be too! Yay for getting it done! Congrats on the workout program!
