Did ya miss me?? I missed blogging. Every time something happened in my life, I’d say, “Oh, I have to put this in my blog,” and then I’d realize, “Oh yeah, I’m not blogging right now.” Um….okay.
Break is over, people!
I gave the site a fresh new look and changed my tag line. This year is all about making changes to make my life cruelty-free. What’s that you say? Haven’t I already been living a vegan life for almost six years now? Well, thanks for noticing – yes, I have! But I can do so much more.
For starters, I’m focusing a lot more on ME. Being a vegan doesn’t automatically make you immune from bad health habits. No animals are harmed in the foods I eat; however, I make a lot of unhealthy choices that end up harming me, so I’m trying to change that. I want to be around for a really long time and I want that time to be happy and healthy and so I’m trying to make better choices when I eat.
Also, I’m trying to be more kind and compassionate to other people. I’ve always been an animal lover, so being kind to animals has been pretty effortless on my part, so I’m trying to focus more on helping other human beings in need. Last month I had a cereal drive for a local Backpack Program and I collected probably close to 100 boxes of cereal. I also started a group on Facebook called Move Your A$$ for a Cause, encouraging others to set fitness goals and when they meet those goals, to give to a charity of their choice. I’m working on the spiritual side of things – doing some yoga, meditating, trying to be non-judgmental……it’s election time and this can be really, really hard…..but I’m trying.
I have a pile of self-help books sitting on the coffee table. (Check out my Nerdiness page to see what I’m currently reading!) I’m a constant work in progress. There’s always room for improvement!
